Prothrombin Time testing
Principle
Adds excessive thromboplastin and calcium ions to assayed plasma in order to transfer thromboplastin to thrombin, and thrombin causes fibrinogen to form a fibrin clot, the clot formation time is negatively correlated with extrinsic coagulation factors volume

PT is intended for use in monitoring of extrinsic factor deficiencies and oral anticoagulant
