In contrast to methamphetamine, it has a methylenedioxy substituent on the phenyl ring, which results in distinctive psychoactive properties. 3, 4-Methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA), itself a popular drug of abuse in the 1960s, is the N-demethylated metabolite of MDMA. Although they have different overall effects, both drugs are known to cause changes in mood and perception and to produce feeling of euphoria and empathy. MDMA is administered either by oral ingestion of intravenous injection. 65% of MDMA is excreted unchanged in urine: It is detectable in the urine for up to 3 days after use.
One Step Ecstasy Urine Test is a rapid urine screening test that can be performed without the use of an instrument. The test utilizes a monoclonal antibody to selectively detect elevated levels of Ecstasy in urine. Test yields a positive result when Ecstasy levels in urine reaches 500ng/ml.
